About Amy Alkoff Chasin, Esq.

The law firm of Amy Alkoff Chasin, Esq., concentrates its practice in the area of residential real estate closings. The Firm is dedicated to the efficient handling of transactional real estate matters. Experience has shown that responsiveness to clients, attention to detail and knowledge of the relevant laws are the keys to achieving a successful closing. Importantly, we recognize that each client has different needs, and each closing requires a different combination of skills to meet those needs.

The Firm consists of three experienced real estate attorneys and four real estate paralegals. The Firm's real estate support department is led by a team of Senior Real Estate Paralegals, Christine A. Rigney, and Kathy Dornbach. We are also joined by Ms. Margaret Caprarola, who assists both the pre-closing and post-closing departments and also handles special projects, and our Administrative Assistant, Ms. Maryann Reh.

Attorneys

AMY ALKOFF CHASIN, ESQ.

Ms. Chasin founded the Firm after practicing with Waters, McPherson, McNeill, P.C. for many years. At Waters, McPherson, McNeill, the largest law firm in Hudson County, Ms. Chasin attained the position of Senior Real Estate Associate and supervised the Residential Real Estate Department.

Ms. Chasin graduated from Brandeis University, Cum Laude, with High Honors, and attended the Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University in New York City. At Cardozo, she earned a position as an Editor of the Moot Court Board. Ms. Chasin was admitted to practice law in the States of New Jersey and New York in 1985, the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, and the United States Supreme Court. Ms. Chasin is also a licensed New Jersey realtor, but she has never sold real estate and has no plans to do so. Ms. Chasin lives with her husband and two children in Essex County, New Jersey.

LIBBY J. WEST, ESQ.

Libby J. West is a Senior Real Estate Attorney who originally joined the Firm following 5 years in solo practice. In addition to real estate, Ms. West has a background in litigation and matrimonial law. Ms. West returned to the Firm in 2003 after relocating from Colorado to New Jersey with her family. Ms. West previously worked at the Firm from 1998-1999.

Ms. West graduated from the University of Denver and received her law degree from George Mason Law School. Ms. West was licensed to practice law in the Sate of New Jersey in 1993, the State of New York in 1995 and the State of Colorado in 2000.

Ms. West lives with her husband and two children in Somerset County.

MARC H. KAPLAN, ESQ.

Marc H. Kaplan joined the Firm in 2005 as a Senior Real Estate Attorney. Mr. Kaplan is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and received his law degree from California Western School of Law. In law school, he won an American Jurisprudence Prize and was elected to the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity. Mr. Kaplan was admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey in 1982 and has been handling real estate closings since 1984.

Mr. Kaplan lives with his wife and three children in Somerset County. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching his children's sports teams, listening to music, and reading. In addition, Mr. Kaplan is a licensed judge for the sport of boxing and has judged the New Jersey State Golden Gloves Boxing semi-finals and finals. He has also done voiceover work, locally.

Paralegals

CHRISTINE A. RIGNEY

Christine A. Rigney joined the Firm in 1992 and is now the Senior Real Estate Paralegal with the Firm. Ms. Rigney attended college at Upsala in East Orange, New Jersey and successfully completed the Paralegal Program at Raritan Valley Community College. Ms. Rigney was raised in Chatham, New Jersey and now lives in Pennsylvania with her husband. Her children are grown and in successful careers. She enjoys hiking and cooking in her spare time.

KATHY DORNBACH

Ms. Kathy Dornbach joined the Firm in 1993, when she retired from life as a full time Mother and Wife. Ms. Dornbach is the Senior Real Estate Paralegal in charge of the entire post-closing department of the Firm. Ms. Dornbach successfully completed the Paralegal Program at Raritan Valley Community College. Ms. Dornbach's work at the Firm begins once the transaction has closed. She makes sure that all documents have been properly recorded and handles each and every post-closing aspect of the file. Ms. Dornbach lives with her husband in Somerset County, New Jersey. Her two children are grown. She enjoys reading and shopping in her free time.

MARGARET CAPRAROLA

Margaret Caprarola joined the Firm in 1996, following six years of paralegal experience with another New Jersey law firm. Ms. Caprarola graduated from William Paterson University in 1986 with a B.A. in criminal justice and successfully completed the paralegal program at Fairleigh Dickinson in 1988. Ms. Caprarola assists both the pre-closing and the post-closing departments of the Firm. She also handles special projects and performs administrative functions for the Firm. Ms. Caprarola lives with her husband and two children in Somerset County, New Jersey. She enjoys cooking and decorating.

Administrative Assistant

MARYANN REH

Ms. Reh is the firm’s Administrative Assistant and is the point person for several of the firm’s critical functions. In addition to her various administrative functions, Ms. Reh tracks all closings and places all title orders. Ms. Reh attended Raritan Valley Community College and Rutgers College. She is also a licensed New Jersey realtor and has extensive experience in the commercial and residential real estate arena.

Bookkeeper

MEENA SHAH

Ms. Meena Shah is the Firm's bookkeeper and handles the Firm's Attorney Trust Account. Ms. Shah graduated from Kean Community College in England in 1975. She lives in Somerset County with her husband and three children. Ms. Shah likes to work out and enjoys movies.
